Spotlight on UK Business Blogs

Spotlight on UK Blogs - all postsOver at Better Business Blogging, each week I have been highlighting some of the Business Blogs which exist in the UK. The aim has been to show a cross section of the current blogs to give a feel for what people are writing about and how they are approaching the task of using blogs in their business activities.

With the launch of The Blog Coach, I have taken the decision that this series sits more comfortably on this blog and so will be continuing the series here in future. As a start point, I am giving a quick recap of those I have already highlighted by publishing a list of them here before continuing the Spotlight on UK Business Blogs series.

In addition to this weekly selection, I am working with others to build a comprehensive list of Business Blogs in the UK. So if there are UK blogs which you have visited and would recommend (including your own!), then please let me know by leaving a comment or sending me a message. Thanks!

Thank you, David - looks like a lot of work has gone into that.

    You’re kidding me, right?

Well it depends if you’re talking about appearance - nul points, to use Eurovision speak - or content, which deserves a bit more.

The Blog Coach wrote @ September 20th, 2006 at 11:26 am

No, not kidding - though you are right that I was referring to the content in reality. As we both know, it takes time and effort to keep a blog active and so 18+ months of posts etc. is a lot of work.

Keeping it on the default WP template would never my personal preference, (in Eurovision terms more Lithuania than Ireland - not that you can tell these days!) but that’s the easy bit to change in comparison with building up that level of content.

David Tebbutt wrote @ September 20th, 2006 at 1:51 pm

I agree. And the reason I haven’t changed it is the most pathetic of all. I tweaked the code a bit and didn’t make notes of where. So a change of design would need me to get back in there.

Time. Bloody time. Not enough of it.

    Thanks for the encouragement though.

    Greatly appreciated.

    Hi Mark

Thanks for the mention of our sites on your blogs. are you able to change the MDFS link name to ‘Financial Planning for Dentists’. The URL is the same of course, but MDFS is not strictly a ‘trading style’ and we have to be careful not to fall foul of the Financial Services Authotity’s rules (don’t we love red tape!)

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Anyone who wants to come on my podcast to help others motivate, inspire and engage people at work just send me an e-mail to anna@theengagingbrand.com - would be great to showcase more talented leaders within the UK.

Blog’s I’d recommend to go along this list, eh? It’s might good company to be in, I’d say already!

There are two - one of them is mine, both are to do with presentations and presentation skills.

The TellingPeople blog is my business blog, containing hints and tips and things about making presentations: http://www.curved-vision.co.uk/presentation-skills-blog

The other is Presentation Zen - which does much the same thing but is more about other people’s presentations and contains far few hints and tips than mine does. Great stuff there though.

I have just started a blog at http://www.costcuttingclub.co.uk to help businesses save money. It is full of hints and tips on cost cutting and also, if you leave your contact details, I can get you hooked up with an appropriate cost cutting consultant. It is based on a wordpress template but I have done a bit of tweaking….hopefully business people will find it helpful.

After reading through this excellent list of blogs my RSS reader has gone into overload. Can anybody recommend a blog about having the time to fit everything in..?

Anyway, if you’re interested in France and family holidays, I hope you appreciate the work we’ve put into our company blog, here at http://blog.siblu.com.

Being a PR person I can heartily recommend Stephen Davies’ posts at www.prblogger.com.

Ah… and forgot to mention my admiration for all things Innocent Smoothie. The blog that makes me laugh, inspired me to row round the UK, and has me buying an Innocent Smoothie everyday with my Boots Meal Deal… wow, that’s some powerful marketing.
